Health & Medical Disclaimer
1. Not a Medical Device
Filiz is a consumer wellness application — it is not a medical device, and it is not regulated as one. Filiz has not been evaluated or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK), or any other regulatory body.
Filiz is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.
2. Not Medical Advice
Nothing in the Filiz application constitutes medical advice. All information, data, projections, explanation cards, and outputs provided by Filiz are for informational and self-tracking purposes only.
Specifically, the following features are not medical advice:
- Weight projections: These are mathematical estimates based on models (logistic-decay, EWMA smoothing). They do not account for individual medical conditions, medications (beyond GLP-1 tracking), metabolic disorders, or other factors that a healthcare professional would consider.
- Explanation cards: These provide general information about common causes of weight fluctuation (e.g., sodium, hormones, exercise). They are educational summaries, not personalized medical assessments.
- BMR/TDEE calculations: Based on published formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict) with typical ±8-10% error margins. These are rough approximations, not clinical measurements.
- GLP-1 plasma level estimates: Based on published pharmacokinetic parameters from clinical trials. Actual drug levels vary significantly between individuals based on injection site, body composition, metabolism, and other factors. These estimates are not a substitute for lab tests.
- Rate ratio and plateau detection: Statistical observations based on trend analysis. They do not indicate medical conditions.
- N-of-1 experiment results: Observational comparisons of before/after trends. Single-subject experiments cannot establish causation. Results should not be used to make health decisions without consulting a professional.
3. Consult Your Healthcare Provider
Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before:
- Starting, stopping, or changing any weight loss or weight management program
- Starting, stopping, or changing any medication, including GLP-1 receptor agonists
- Changing your medication dose or dosing schedule
- Interpreting weight trends or health metrics
- Making dietary or exercise changes based on app data
- Using Filiz data in any medical decision-making context
Filiz tracks and displays information. Your doctor interprets it.
4. GLP-1 Medication Disclaimer
The GLP-1 Companion mode in Filiz is designed to help users track their medication — it does not prescribe, recommend, or modify medication usage.
- Drug information (doses, titration schedules, half-lives) is sourced from publicly available clinical trial data and FDA/EMA prescribing information. This information may not reflect the most current updates.
- Plasma level estimates are based on population pharmacokinetic parameters and are not personalized to you. They should never be used to adjust dosing.
- Injection site rotation suggestions are based on general best practices. Consult your prescribing physician for injection technique guidance.
- Pipeline medications (marked with ⚡) are investigational drugs in clinical trials. Their inclusion does not constitute endorsement or recommendation. Prescribing information may change upon approval.
- Microdosing strategies (if available in future versions) are self-selected by the user. Filiz acknowledges but does not recommend any off-label dosing. Always consult your physician.
If you experience severe side effects from any medication, stop using the medication and seek immediate medical attention. Do not rely on an app to evaluate side effect severity.
5. Weight & Body Image
Filiz is designed with a non-judgmental philosophy. We do not use language that implies success or failure. We do not celebrate weight loss or criticize weight gain. We believe weight is information, not judgment.
However, we recognize that weight tracking can be sensitive for some individuals. If you experience any of the following, please discontinue use and seek support:
- Obsessive or compulsive weighing behaviors
- Anxiety or distress related to daily weight fluctuations
- Disordered eating patterns triggered by weight data
- Feelings of failure, shame, or inadequacy related to your weight

6. Accuracy & Limitations
While Filiz uses peer-reviewed formulas and evidence-based algorithms, all calculations are approximations:
- EWMA smoothing reduces daily noise but introduces lag. The smoothed value at any given time does not represent your "true" weight — it's a best estimate of your trend.
- Weight projections assume relatively stable behavior and do not account for life events, illness, medication changes, pregnancy, or other significant factors.
- Metabolic adaptation is modeled with a simplified exponential function. Real metabolic adaptation is more complex and varies between individuals.
- Body measurements are user-reported and subject to measurement error. Small variations in tape placement can produce different readings.
- Context tags (sodium, alcohol, exercise, etc.) are self-reported and inherently subjective.
Filiz provides approximate, model-based insights — not clinical-grade measurements.
7. No Emergency Service
Filiz is not an emergency service. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately (911 in the US, 112 in the EU/Turkey).
Do not use Filiz to evaluate or monitor acute medical conditions. The app is designed for long-term wellness tracking, not acute care.
8. Limitation of Liability for Health Outcomes
Wrinkled Brain LLC is not responsible for any health outcomes resulting from your use of Filiz, including but not limited to:
- Weight loss or weight gain
- Adverse effects from dietary or exercise changes made based on app data
- Medication decisions influenced by app information
- Psychological distress related to weight tracking
- Failure to achieve projected weight goals
- Any harm resulting from reliance on app data instead of professional medical advice
You use Filiz entirely at your own risk and discretion.
9. Research & Sources
The scientific foundations of Filiz's calculations are based on published research, including but not limited to:
- Mifflin, M.D. et al. (1990) — Basal metabolic rate estimation
- Harris, J.A. & Benedict, F.G. (1918) — Energy requirement equations
- Katch, F. & McArdle, W.D. — Lean body mass-based BMR estimation
- Rosenbaum, M. et al. — Metabolic adaptation during weight loss
- SURMOUNT, STEP, SURPASS clinical trial programs — GLP-1 pharmacokinetics and weight outcomes
These references are provided for transparency. The implementation of these formulas in a consumer app does not constitute clinical validation.
10. Updates to This Disclaimer
We may update this Health Disclaimer as new features are added or as regulations change. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notification. The current version is always available at this URL.
